Centimeters?? What the..!

      1cm = .39 inch
      10cm = 3.9 inch
      30.5 cm = 1 foot
      100cm = 1 meter
      1 meter = 3.24 feet or slighty
       more than a yard.

Celsius Explained.
There is still one nation left in this world where the Fahrenheit scale is used to measure temperature. You know who you are. Here is a quick Celsius refresher. Water freezes at 0c therefore anything between -1c and -10c is good for snow while still comfortable for people. As far as aprés in the village is concerned people will sit outside on the patios at about 5c. Yes I know, people have been known to sit outside at
-10c but those are the ones feeling no pain.

An solid last day of the year. Not much in the way of new snow but just enough to make it all look fresh and soft. See ya'll next year.

Peak -12c Alpine -7c Valley -6c NewSnw 0cm  Base 170cm

It's snowing very lightly right now but the feeling is that there is a lot more to come. We're expecting a nice dump tonight or maybe this aft with flurries all week long right into the new year.

It's definitely brass monkey time (as in freezing the nuts off of a..). I hear guffawing from back east somewhere. Hé, if its -17c or lower this westcoast boy starts packing on the layers, that's the way it is. Meanwhile conditions are groomed softpack with more snow expected tomorrow aft.

Peak -6c Alpine -1c Valley 0c NewSnw 13cm  Base 159cm

It's here, the next delivery. Kinda ugly at the bottom what with the temp going up and down like a yoyo but as soon as you step out of the gondola at midstation all is well. More to come (says the man)

Snow is a'coming I can feel it in my bones. Either that or I believe the weatherman, take your pick. Still doing the dial-in shuffle to get this on the Web. Thanks Telus!

FTP problems!! Sorry about that people I've been off the air a lot longer than I should have been. Even now I am using a temporary dial-in account, anyway we're back and that's good. Meanwhile we're having an excellent day after a few iffy ones (we had some rain at the bottom) it's getting colder again and snow is in the air!!

Dec. 15'03 09:00 AM Overcast, Var.Vis. Wind N 25 k/h
Peak -10c Alpine -5c Valley 0c NewSnw 10cm  Base 144cm

It's snowing very lightly right now but it feels like there's a lot more to come. Why don't I go up and check it out for you guys. Don't say I never do anything for you.

Dec. 14'03 11:00 AM Overcast, Ltd.Vis. Wind N 45 k/h
Peak -9c Alpine -4c Valley 0c NewSnw 15cm  Base 145cm

And we're back! We've had 3 meters of snow so far this season (that's TEN feet bro). Early season anyone? Oh by the way, yes it's snowing as I write this.

Dec. 03'03 05:00 PM Overcast, Ltd.Vis. Wind NW 5 k/h
Peak -11c Alpine -9c Valley -2c NewSnw 15cm  Base 103cm

Icy is the word at least on the lower runs. We had a warm front coming through here which also dumped an other 15cm above midstation but gave us rain below. It then turned cold again and you can fill in the rest. They are making snow now below midstation so it should be a lot better tomorrow there is also more big snow coming, top to bottom we hope.
I'll be outta here for about a week or so, gotta take care of a thing see you guys in two meters.

Dec. 02'03 09:00 AM Overcast, Ltd.Vis. Wind NE 35 k/h
Peak -3c Alpine 1c Valley -2c NewSnw 1cm  Base 96cm

The sky feels heavy with snow but the temp is doing weird things what with a layer above freezing hanging around midstation but minus zero layers in the valley and in the alpine. I'll go check it out.

Nov. 30'03 01:00 PM Clear Sky, Unl.Vis. Wind N 15 k/h
Peak -4c Alpine -5c Valley 0c NewSnw 0cm  Base 104cm

This was certainly an opening weekend to remember. Right now the vis is excellent, the wind is light and the base is over a meter. I think this is going to be a season to remember.

Nov. 29'03 09:00 AM Overcast, Var. Vis. Wind N 45 k/h
Peak -7c Alpine -5c Valley 2c NewSnw 19cm  Base 114cm

An other 20cm! It's all good. It got a little warm in the village yesterday and a bit slushy but you don't have to go up far to get into the snowline. Today the weather is going to be clearing we may even get some sun. An excellent day in my book.

Nov. 28'03 09:00 AM Overcast, Ltd. Vis. Wind N 55 k/h
Peak -7c Alpine -2c Valley 1c NewSnw 27cm  Base 100cm

27 Big ones! Come and enjoy them. The temp is excellent as well, we were told we'd have a 2200 meter freezing level with rain for a day or so but it never happened. It's even snowing (wet) down here in the valley, this aft we're expecting the freezing level to come down again and then the sun will appear. The makings of an awesome early season weekend I'd say.

Whistler mountain opens today (my fave mountain). Still waiting for that big dump we've been promised. Tonight says the man. Actually it should start later today and it sure looks like it but I won't count my inches until I shovel them of the driveway.

10cm and it's still going strong looks like an other ten if not twenty by the time the day is done.

I've just been reminded that a lot of you folks are planning to come up on the American Thanksgiving weekend. What can we look forward to was the question. The answer is simple, last Saturday most everybody rode down to the village. We just got an other 7 inches with a Lot more in the forecast, I'd say forget downloading. The only fly in the ointment is the temp it is going to warm up towards the end of the week! Stay Tuned!

Snow we've been promised and snowing it is. Very lightly right now but the sky looks like it's going to dump a lot more. O yeah, about yesterday. Awesome!

It's definitely brass monkey time here in sunny but nippy Whistler. They are making snow just to fill some of the thin spots. Keeners are actually walking uphill just to ride a couple o'feet, there obviously will be no one left in the village tomorrow what with everyone heading for that first ride of the season.

Nov. 20'03 01:00 PM Cloudy, UnLtd. Vis. Wind S 15 k/h
Peak -12c Alpine -6c Valley -1c NewSnw Lots   Base 85cm

This is it, official snow reporting has begon. As you can see we've got an 85cm base, we had about 3 feet fall over the last week with more on the way! Opening day is in two days, as always if you can't be here I feel your pain.

Nov. 18'03 03:00 PM Overcast, Ltd. Vis. Wind NW 15 k/h
Peak -7c Alpine -4c Valley 2c NewSnw Lots   Base 40cm

So like, the temperature here in the valley went up so we got some rain but only down here, a couple o'hundred meters higher things were fine. Temp is coming down again, it's snowing and starting to stick. If this keeps up we'll have keeners skiing or riding all the way into the village on opening day. Death before Download!!

Nov. 17'03 08:00 PM Overcast, Ltd. Vis. Wind NW 65 k/h
Peak -7c Alpine -4c Valley 0c NewSnw Lots   Base -cm

Just shoveled 5cm of snow from the driveway just to see if I can still do it. If this keeps up there is going to a foot of the stuff tomorrow. Stay tuned

Nov. 08'03 11:00 AM Cloudy, UnLtd. Vis. Wind SE 10 k/h
Peak 2c Alpine 3c Valley 2c NewSnw 0cm  Base 0cm

It's kinda weirdly warm right now, we've just come off a two week artic period with ice on the ponds down here in the valley and lots of man made snow on the hill. Mom nature has promised to drop some natural stuff next Monday. Two more weeks 'till opening day!!

Nov. 01'03 11:00 AM Cloudy, UnLtd. Vis. Wind NE 5 k/h
Peak -5c Alpine -5c Valley -2c NewSnw 0cm  Base 0cm

Ok guys it's November now, time to get serious. That snow we got in October did not last of course but right now the serious weather has started. It's cold enough for snow and it looks like it'll stay this way for a while. They are making serious snow up on the hill plus we have a 60 percent chance of natural snow this weekend. Three weeks to go 'till opening day!

Oct. 16'03 11:00 AM Cloudy, Ltd. Vis. Wind NW 45 k/h

It's happening right in front of my eyes people. Snow! Right here on the valley floor. It's not going to stay of course, it's going to warm up later on in the day but it's a sign of things to come. Started waxing those planks yet?
