Not much change from yesterday. We got unsettled weather but only a 30% chance of snow. It looks like the middle of next week before we get some real snow again.
An other day at the beach, it's going to stay like this at least until Sunday aft., we may see some snow by then as well.
Ok so I got up there yesterday, the top was good, the middle was a bit icy and the bottom got a little slushy. Kinda what you would expect looking at the temperatures. Today should be much the same except we should see some sun.
So here's the deal, we got 6cm yesterday and last night plus a bunch on the days before, How's about I get my butt up there and tell you all about it? Deal ? Later!
Ok so we got 6 cm over the last two days, not exactly a dump but stay tuned we may get something big this aft.
They like to call these conditions "unsettled", what do I know. All I know is it's snowing right now but the sky doesn't have that dark sky big dump sort of look. Know what I mean? Stay tooned.
The man says we may get a few flurries tonight I'll keep you informed meanwhile you know the drill, bring sunscreen, shades and your camera. Cheers!
This has definitely been a spring skiing week but don't kid yourself it's only February, a lot can happen between now and April. Meanwhile lets enjoy it while it lasts.
We had an other day-at-the-beach today, sunshine, plenty snow no wind. All in all an excellent day. The earliest possibility for fresh snow is Monday.
A solid day today, the fly in the ointment were fog banks at different altitudes. Things are going to clear up with some excellent day-at-the-beach weather coming up this weekend.
It's staying nice and cold on top so we have rain in the village but you don't have to go up the hill very much to get into the snowline. We may get some more snow tonight.
The dump came and again it was good. Sorry but I can't talk now, see ya later! Remember there are no friends on Pow days.
We're having a "quiet before the storm" timeout right now if the man is to be believed. I kinda believe him and if he's right we've got this huge dump just about to hit us possibly early this aft.
Right now we're having a few flurries drop by. The wait is for The Big One on Monday meanwhile we got that 9cm of fresh to play with. Let's go play outside.
The snowing has began, it's quiet right now but it feels like there is a huge amount up in dem thar clouds just waiting to fall on us.
The good news? Big snow's a'coming. The bad news? Big warm's a'coming. Snow in the weekend possible rain early next week. I'd say Sunday would be a good day if you don't mind riding pow while it's falling.
Things have been much the same the last few days but it looks as though we will get a refresher this coming weekend starting tomorrow aft.
It's spring skiing up there today. Bring your sunscreen and camera and forget about layering up.
It's going to be warm and occasionally sunny for a while but luckily no precip. A new storm is getting it together for Friday
A regular day, the light could be a bit flat but there is also a chance of some sun peeking through. It's going to be like this for a while.
Warm in the valley but absolutely gorgeous on top. I may have to get up there and I may have to beat you to the first run on peak chair! See ya.
A junior dump guys! It's still snowing we may get a foot yet. Later!
Yesterday was definitely like a day at the beach. We got an other flurry in the morning but then it cleared up to sunshine for the rest of the day. Clouds are back now and apparently it's the leading edge of an intense frontal system coming our way. It may make for other great weekend. Stay tuned.
OK so 5 cm ain't exactly what you would call a dump but hé, add it to yesterdays 6cm and you've got a10+. I think I'll go see for myself, how's that?
A bit of fresh never hurt a soul, we may get some more during the day and tonight. Things are warming up (again) don't know if it means rain on the mountain. I'll keep you informed.
An other day at the beach up there today. We may see some clouds and snow later on in the day and tonight. Stay tuned.
A gorgeous day, make sure you bring your sunscreen. Lots of freshies left if you're willing to go look for them, check out the trees and the sides of some of the chutes.
So you thought yesterday was excellent. Check this out. Sunny breaks today and low wind but especially - today is when they open the high alpine areas which where closed yesterday because of avalanche danger. There's acres of pow up there come and get it.
Yep, I know, it's a late-in-the-day report again. Dude! Look at that new snow figure. 52cm or half a meter or close to two feet. You think maybe I shouldn't have been trying out for those early tracks?? You think wrong! Tomorrow sunny breaks and lots of untracked snow if you know where to find it. (and I do)
It warmed up slightly (enough to melt the snow in the village) but there is plenty of snow up the hill with a chance of a bit more to top us up. There are a few sunny days ahead us so we can enjoy it all properly.
Here is a sick, sick thought for you. We've got 14cm fresh plus 6cm yesterday and here I sit 11AM typing this. What's Up With That?? Work! That's what. Gotta wait 'till tomorrow before I get to go up. I hope you're all feeling my pain!
OK so today's report is a little late, let me explain. Do the words fresh pow mean anything to you? I thought it would. It's snowing as we speak by the way, if this goes on all night tomorrow's report may just be a little late again. Sorry.
It's snowing very lightly down here right now. It's looks like the conditions are just about perfect for a long series of flurries for the rest of the week altough at the end of it things could warm up a bit again.
Fresh snow top to bottom, more to come, was there anything else we could get for you sir? You only have to ask you understand. We've got flurries this aft with periods of snow coming up for you tonight. Anything else?
It's snowing as I write this, top to bottom mind you. No idea how long it's going to last and how much we'll end up with but every cm is welcome. Tune in tomorrow.
Temp back to normal and supposedly staying that way for a while. Some fresh snow which made it down almost to the village. Happy days are here again.
Some fresh snow in the Alpine but way to warm down here. It's supposed to cool down and start to snow down here as well. I'll keep you posted.
Good news and bad news. A front is coming in bringing lots of precip, that's good. The front is also bringing warm air with it, that's not so good. Depending on which forecast you check it'll either stay below 0c all the way or the freezing level will creep up to about half way up the mountain. Go figure.
I mostly rode the peak chair yesterday. It was excellent up there. The snow was good from the bottom of peak to midstation. below midstation it's basically hardpack.
Temp is good, there is fresh snow on top. The snowline came down to midstation so except for that last run of the day when you get of the hill it's all good.
Snowing on top raining down here what can I say? I don't have to shovel the driveway, that's good. If this keeps up we'll have to download because the bottom runs will be washed out, that's bad. Fresh snow in the alpine, that's good. Take your pick.
There's snow in the clouds I don't know if it it's a lot or a little but at least things are back to normal. Groomed hardpack is fun for only so long, we need some pow.
Ok guys, normal temps are back. All we need now is some fresh snow. They'll be making it big time ofcourse but there is nothing like the stuff mom nature makes.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. Freezing levels are going to come down rain will stop and we may get some fresh snow at least down to midstation.
It still sucks. It will suck at least until Friday. Put on your warm weather wax and your Gor-Tex outer layer!
What can I tell ya? Plenty snow but it's way up there. Stick to the Glacier and Peak chairs and tell that warm weather crap from Hawaii to stay where it belongs.
No news from the western fronts. They're still coming in warm and wet (the storm fronts that is). We may get some snow in the high alpine. Stay tuned.
It's still too warm but at least there is no more precip which in this case would mean rain. It's going to stay warm for a while so let's get used to it.
13cm in the Alpine, rain at the bottom. Stay high I would say. The temp is about to drop says the man. I believe it when I see it.
This day sucked, what can I say, rain midway down Emerald chair. Strong winds at the peak were it at least snowed. Vis all over the place best place to be was under the tree but they were dripping water. All in all if you missed today you didn't miss much.
OK so we're a little late today with the report. What can I say? How about. Powder!!! I am cooked but in a good sorta way. Later!
The inversion is still holding you'll want zip up as you ride down the mountain. 15cm isn't exactly a "dump" but it's better than a kick.., well you know where - besides it's still snowing and the avalanche guns are blasting wich is always a good sign.
The front has arrived and the dump has started it is snowing very lightly right now but it should get heavier as the day progresses. We've got one of those weird inversions right now -10C on top with -16C down here, a classic case of warmer air (carrying moisture in this case) sliding on top of cold air. Anyway as long as it stays below 0C it's all good.
Still plenty cold but the warming trend is obvious now. That big Pacific front is still on track as well it should arrive tonight with tons of snow tomorrow.
Forget it people -28C (-20F) is just too cold. You'll basically be spending most of your time inside the Roundhouse or the Rendevous slamming back hot bev's. The snow is no good either it gets very stiff too ride because this business of a very thin layer of water forming between your board(s) and the base is just not happening. It'll stay cold until tomorrow evening with big snow expected on Tuesday.
What can I say, put an extra layer on top of those layers you've already got on. It's beyond brass monkey time up there -20c plus wind is just not West Coast weather I am afraid.
It's pretty nippy out there and guess what! The man says that an arctic front is approaching. Hé, what we need is more snow not more cold! We may actually get a trace overnight but than that's it until Tuesday at the earliest.
Happy New Year. Sorry, gotta run looks like an excellent day up there, I feel the need to partake.
An solid last day of the year. Not much in the way of new snow but just enough to make it all look fresh and soft. See ya'll next year. |
