Centimeters?? What the..!

      1cm = .39 inch
      10cm = 3.9 inch
      30.5 cm = 1 foot
      100cm = 1 meter
      1 meter = 3.24 feet or slighty
       more than a yard.

Celsius Explained.
There is still one nation left in this world where the Fahrenheit scale is used to measure temperature. You know who you are. Here is a quick Celsius refresher. Water freezes at 0c therefore anything between -1c and -10c is good for snow while still comfortable for people. As far as aprés in the village is concerned people will sit outside on the patios at about 5c. Yes I know, people have been known to sit outside at
-10c but those are the ones feeling no pain.

Jan.31 '03 06:00 PM Cloudy, VarVis. Wind SE 45 k/h
Peak -4c Alpine -1c Valley 5c NewSnw 6cm  Base 195cm

The bottom runs are still being beaten up. Above midstation all is well, peachy keen as a matter of fact. We should get some more snow over the next few days but I'll believe when I see it.

Jan.30 '03 06:00 PM Overcast, VarVis. Wind NE 55 k/h
Peak -6c Alpine -1c Valley 1c NewSnw 11cm  Base 192cm

It was a solid to good day in the Alpine today. Tonight we should see a good dump. Pow tomorrow? I could live with that!

Jan.29 '03 04:00 PM Overcast, Ltd Vis. Wind E 35 k/h
Peak -6c Alpine -2c Valley 0c NewSnw 0cm  Base 184cm

It's snowing, it's been snowing on and off all day long. Top to bottom mind you not hard but it should be good for a couple of cm. temperature is iffy one degree up or down means rain versus snow at least down here in the valley. Chances for a pow day tomorrow? Reasonable.

Jan.28 '03 11:00 AM Blue Sky, UnltdVis. Wind SE 15 k/h
Peak -6c Alpine -2c Valley 3c NewSnw 0cm  Base 185cm

It's going to be weird for the next few days, we will get snow but the temperature is going to yoyo up and down the mountain. Conditions today are good in the alpine cruddy further down.

Jan.27 '03 10:00 AM Grey Sky, VarVis. Wind SE 15 k/h
Peak -6c Alpine -1c Valley 3c NewSnw 3cm  Base 187cm

Looks like we're back in business temperature wise. We may get some snow today but it's not going to be much. Fingers crossed it's going to be cold enough for the snowguns to rebuild the base at the lower end of the mountain.

Jan.26 '03 09:00 AM Overcast, VarVis. Wind E 75 k/h
Peak -2c Alpine 3c Valley 7c NewSnw 0cm  Base 195cm

It's brutal out there. Time to take a day off, go shopping or something. It's been raining pretty well top to bottom. Light at the end of the tunnel? Freezing level should come down to at least midstation this afternoon.

Jan.25 '03 04:00 PM Overcast, VarVis. Wind N 45 k/h
Peak -1c Alpine 3c Valley 2c NewSnw 0cm  Base 206cm

Brutally honest? This was not a banner day it rained way passed midstation making things soggy and gluey. Temperature should start dropping if not tomorrow then by Monday at the latest. Have I ever been wrong?

Jan.24 '03 05:00 PM Broken Clouds, VarVis. Wind N 15 k/h
Peak -3c Alpine 1c Valley 4c NewSnw 8cm  Base 209cm

A foggish wettish kind of a day some new snow but again higer up only. Looks like the lower elevations are in for more wet stuff but we should get plenty more snow in the alpine for the next few days.

Jan.23 '03 06:00 PM Broken Clouds, VarVis. Wind N 25 k/h
Peak -5c Alpine -1c Valley 4c NewSnw 32cm  Base 207cm

Snow's here, it's excellent higher up. It got to warm lower down and we got some rain below mid station. We're expecting an other dump overnight. Stay tuned.

Jan.22 '03 10:00 AM Overcast, UnltdVis. Wind N 45 k/h
Peak -5c Alpine -5c Valley -4c NewSnw 3cm  Base 182cm

So like, the snowing has begun. It's coming down right now not big time but steady. This could go on for days. Let's Rock!

Jan.21 '03 10:00 AM Overcast, UnltdVis. Wind SW 5 k/h
Peak -10c Alpine -5c Valley -2c NewSnw 0cm  Base 180cm

Conditions are manmade on top of hardpack. The man says big snow is really really coming! Hé who am I? I believe 'm don't you?

Jan.20 '03 10:00 AM Overcast, UnltdVis. Wind N 5 k/h
Peak -4c Alpine -5c Valley 0c NewSnw 0cm  Base 184cm

So much for the overnight snow we were going to get, we may get some tonight but the big one is going to be Wednesday. Fingers crossed and all that.

Jan.19 '03 06:00 PM Cloudy Sky, UnltdVis. Wind NE 15 k/h
Peak -3c Alpine 1c Valley 2c NewSnw 0cm  Base 185cm

Things are back to normal that is to say it's cold on top, warmer here in the valley. Clouds have been moving in, will we get snow over night? Check in tomorrow.

Jan.17 '03 08:00 AM Clear Sky, UnltdVis. Wind S 35 k/h
Peak 1c Alpine 1c Valley -3c NewSnw 0cm  Base 186cm

It's inversion time again. 1c on top -3c down here. Oh well, dress lightly and put some wax on your stick(s). The sun shines and the snow is soft, is there anything else you'd like?

Jan.16 '03 05:00 PM Overcast, Unltd Vis. Wind NE 5 k/h
Peak -2c Alpine 1c Valley -1c NewSnw 0cm  Base 188cm

Spring conditions are back, earliest chance for some fresh pow is Sunday but Monday is more likely. Guns are blowing snow keeping the runs reasonably soft all in all a solid day.

Jan.15 '03 05:00 PM Overcast, Var Vis. Wind N 25 k/h
Peak -7c Alpine -4c Valley -2c NewSnw 0cm  Base 197cm

You should'a been here yesterday 12cm on top of Sunday's 8cm it was great. We have might get some fresh pow tonight, 60% chance says the man.

Jan.14 '03 08:00 AM Overcast, Var Vis. Wind N 25 k/h
Peak -4c Alpine -1c Valley -1c NewSnw 12cm  Base 200cm

12cm not exactly a foot but not bad either, I must go and partake. Later!

Jan.13 '03 08:00 AM Sunny Breaks, Unltd Vis. Wind N 25 k/h

Jan.11 '03 09:00 AM Overcast Sky, Unltd Vis. Wind N 25 k/h
Peak -6c Alpine -3c Valley -7c NewSnw 0cm  Base 186cm

It's not that we don't trust mother nature you understand but while we are waiting for a snow delivery we are Making It Ourselves! Did you hear that Mom? We are making our own snow, doing your job, hint hint!

Jan.10 '03 09:00 AM Clear Sky, Unltd Vis. Wind S 5 k/h
Peak 1c Alpine -3c Valley -5c NewSnw 0cm  Base 188cm

Spring conditions remain for one more day at least. You'll find hardpack with a manmade layer on top on most of the runs. Clouds will be moving in tonight.

Jan.09 '03 08:00 AM Clear Sky, Unltd Vis. Wind NW 25 k/h
Peak -3c Alpine -4c Valley -2c NewSnw 0cm  Base 195cm

More of the same but temperatures are now definitely letting the snowguns do their work. Conditions are groomed hardpack.

Jan.08 '03 09:00 AM Clear Sky, Unltd Vis. Wind W 5 k/h
Peak -3c Alpine -2c Valley -1c NewSnw 0cm  Base 195cm

Well what do you know, I dropped a day. Time flies like the wind and fruit flies like bananas, as my old pappy used to say but back to business. Not much is happening it's getting a little colder now, they should be able to put some manmade on the icy spots. Earliest predicted snowfall is this Saturday.

Jan.06 '03 12:00PM Clear Sky, Unltd Vis. Wind N 25 k/h
Peak -1c Alpine 5c Valley 0c NewSnw 0cm  Base 198cm

Weirdness is back again. 5c at mid mountain 0c down here!? Anyway it's not raining so conditions are spring skiing on groomed hardpack. Nothing wrong with that except for the fact that we could always Use Some More Pow! Helló anybody listening?

Jan.05 '03 04:00PM Broken Cloud, Var.Vis. Wind N 25 k/h
Peak -4c Alpine -1c Valley 5c NewSnw 3cm  Base 215cm

Solid day today, runs are hardpacked but no rain. Good vis except for the occasional fog bank. It felt like a spring day. The man says the next few days will be more of the same.

Jan.04 '03 08:00AM Overcast, Var.Vis. Wind NW 65 k/h
Peak -3c Alpine 1c Valley 1c NewSnw 9cm  Base 220cm

It's way to warm! The man says it'll cool down tonight. There is a series of storms coming this way bringing plenty of precip. The temperature is going to be doing that yo-yo thing for a while though.

Jan.03 '03 09:00AM Overcast, Var.Vis. Wind N 45 k/h
Peak -7c Alpine -3c Valley 1c NewSnw 41cm  Base 220cm

As you can see we're getting huge dumps there's only one fly in the ointment. It got warm and it's raining in the valley! Stay high though and ride umlimited fresh snow

Jan.02 '03 09:00AM Overcast, Var.Vis. Wind NE 25 k/h
Peak -5c Alpine -1c Valley -0c NewSnw 32cm  Base 205cm

The dumptruck came by and delivered one foot of the white stuff. My suggestion? Come and partake of the bounty.

Peak -8c Alpine -3c Valley -0c NewSnw 8cm  Base 184cm

HAPPY NEW YEAR! There is plenty of snow in the forecast but it's also warming up. Ski above midstation for the next few days I'd say and keep dancing that fresh pow dance. I think it's working.

Dec.31 '02 08:00AM Clear Skies, Unltd.Vis. Wind S 25 k/h
Peak -9c Alpine -7c Valley -9c NewSnw 0cm  Base 186cm

It's going to be a fast day today, conditions are groomed hardpack. Bring your camera. The man is promising more snow tonight. What does he know?

Dec.30 '02 05:00:PM Broken Cloud, Unltd.Vis. Wind N 25 k/h

Excellent December conditions, top to bottom riding, more snow is on the way. Any questions?
