Celsius Explained.
There is still one nation left in this world where the Fahrenheit scale is used to measure temperature. You know who you are. Here is a quick Celsius refresher. Water freezes at 0c therefore anything between -1c and -10c is good for snow while still comfortable for people. As far as aprés in the village is concerned people will sit outside on the patios at about 5c. Yes I know, people have been known to sit outside at
-10c but those are the ones feeling no pain.

Feb 14 '02 10:00:AM Clear, Unltd Vis. Light Wind.

It's Warm! It feels like April around here. Come and get it while the getting is good! Sunglasses, sunscreen, you know the drill.

Feb 13 '02 10:00:AM Overcast, Unltd Vis. Windy.
Alpine-10c Mdmtn-4c Valley-3c NewSnw 0cm Base 259cm

Sunny breaks later on today, more spring skiing conditions. This will last for a while, no new snow until Sunday at the earliest. Be careful in the sun! People are showing up in the village with the dreaded goggle tan!

Feb 12 '02 09:00:AM Blue Sky, Unltd Vis. LightWind.
Alpine-5c Mdmtn-5c Valley-8c NewSnw 0cm Base 262cm

Inversion! (warm on top, cold in valley). It's t-shirt weather! What? You don't usually wear long johns and a fleece under your t-shirt? Bring your sunscreen.

Feb 11 '02 10:00:AM Blue Sky, Unltd Vis. NoWind.
Alpine-14c Mdmtn-8c Valley-5c NewSnw 13cm Base 265cm

Feb 10 '02 11:00:AM Solid Clouds, Var Vis. Strong Wind.
Alpine-7c Mdmtn-2c Valley 1c NewSnw 0cm Base 265cm

It's snowing/raining right now depending on how high you are. Looks like a good day to soothe your aching bones and let mother nature lay down some pow. Tomorrow a high pressure area will build over the area, looks like early next week is going to be spring ski heaven.

Feb 09 '02 08:00:AM Broken Clouds, Unltd Vis. Light Wind.
Alpine-9c Mdmtn-5c Valley-3c NewSnw 2cm Base 267cm

A good day, I would say. There is quite a bit of pow left under the trees and down some of the chutes, you gotta go get it though. Just popping down a bowl won't do it. Most people are too lazy. Are you?

Feb 08 '02 10:00:AM Cloudy/Sunny, Unltd Vis. Light Wind.
Alpine-9c Mdmtn-5c Valley-2c NewSnw 9cm Base 285cm

Sunny periods, lights winds, a huge base. Come and get it while the getting is good!

Feb 07 '02 08:00:AM Snowing, Var Vis. Moderate Winds.
Alpine-10c Mdmtn-5c Valley-2c NewSnw 46cm Base 285cm

The Dump That Ate Whistler.
Has come through town, 46cm plus 18 the day before. That's
64 cm, more than half a meter (or two feet for you metrically challenged types). Gotta go, gotta ahhhh... Investigate

Feb 06 '02 11:00:AM Solid cloud, Var Vis. Strong Winds.
Alpine-8c Mdmtn-3c Valley-2c NewSnw 13cm Base 239cm

It's still dumping! Yesterday the freezing level lifted above the village but only about 100 meters. Today? I don't know I've got about 6 cm in the driveway. Should I take out the snowshovel or the snowboard? Decisions, decisions!

Feb 05 '02 10:00:AM Solid cloud, Var Vis. Strong Winds.
Alpine-8c Mdmtn-4c Valley-2c NewSnw 0cm Base 231cm

It's dumping out there, we're going to get some major snow over the next two days (says the man). Flies in the ointment? Big wind and freezing level going up and down. Am I complaining about a fresh dump? Njet!!

Feb 04 '02 9:00:AM Sunny some clouds, Unltd Vis. Windy.
Alpine-10c Mdmtn-6c Valley-4c NewSnw 4cm Base 237cm

We had a bit of a warm spell over the weekend. It's cooler now and sunny, spring is in the air and a young man's fancy turns to.. Big Air! See Ya.

Feb 03 '02 9:00:AM Cloudy/Sunny Breaks, Var Vis. Windy.
Alpine-8c Mdmtn-3c Valley-0c NewSnw 22cm Base 240cm

Hmmm, I seem to have missed a day here, where was I? Let's see we had fresh pow, sunny periods turning into solid sun, could I have been... Riding!!? Now that you mention it, yes I could have been. We had some more snow overnight, sun is trying to poke through. As always, for those of you not here, I feel your pain.

Feb 01 '02 11:00:AM Cloudy & Snowing, Var Vis. Windy.
Alpine-9c Mdmtn-5c Valley-3c NewSnw 3cm Base 229cm

It's snowing right now, it feels like it's going to all day but I have been wrong before! The "Appleton Rum Peak to Valley Race" is on today and tomorrow. Amateurs only! A vertical drop of 1443 metres, with 180 gates!. Average time to get down? 5.5 minutes. Come and cheer your favorite racer. Better yet, next year, race yourself.

Jan 31 '02 10:00:AM Cloudy, Var Vis. Some Wind.
Alpine-11c Mdmtn-6c Valley-3c NewSnw 8cm Base 228cm

OK people, we've got Pow. Come and get it while the getting is good. We may get more this afternoon, an other 8cm certainly wouldn't hurt. Unsettled conditions ahead, says the man.

Jan 30 '02 9:00:AM Cloudy, Var Vis. Light Wind.
Alpine-10c Mdmtn-7c Valley-7c NewSnw 0cm Base 226cm

Shows you how wrong I can be. I went up after writing the report yesterday. It looked cloudy from the bottom up, remember? Well, It was great in the Alpine! Today looks like it could be the same. I'll go up and check it out, how's that? Wouldn't want to make the same mistake twice now would I?

Jan 29 '02 10:00:AM Cloudy Sun trying, Var Vis. Light Wind.
Alpine-15c Mdmtn-13c Valley-12c NewSnw 0cm Base 228cm

Snow is a'coming this way. A few tiny flakes are falling as I write but there are those light splotches in the sky? Anyway the man says there are some fronts coming in off the ocean and hé, don't I always believe the man?

Jan 28 '02 2:00:PM Sunny, Unltd Vis. Light Wind.
Alpine-11c Mdmtn-11c Vally-8c NewSnw 0cm Base 229cm

Remember that brass monkey? Well he's freezing them off right now. Consider that I am reporting this in the afternoon, the sun has been shining all day and it's still below 11c. That's cold! Of course you can see forever, every bump and grind stands out clear as day so you can really boot it down the hill. Anyone feel a need for speed?

Jan 27 '02 10:00:AM Sunny, Unltd Vis. Very Light Wind.
Alpine-15c Mdmtn-13c Vally-10c NewSnw 2cm Base 232cm

The weatherman is Súch a Loser! He's like, Só not with it. We were going to have clouds and major snow. We got No clouds and major sun. I guess I should go skiing today but I am Só not ready, life's hard when you're a 'valley girl', are you coming? Whatéver!

Jan 26 '02 03:00:PM Sunny Periods, Unltd Vis. SomeWind.
Alpine-14c Mdmtn-9c Valley-5c NewSnw 18cm  Base 237cm

A late report today because I was, aahhh otherwise engaged. The day started weird, it looked like it was going to be an all day dump. Half way through the day it cleared up. Let me make sure you're getting the message. We got about two feet of fresh over the last few days, this afternoon the sun started shining with unlimited visibility. Do you want me to go on? Oh by the way the mountains are now open until 3:30PM every day!

We've got a warm front passing through, it's raining in the valley but a few hundred meters up it's snowing so "no worries mate". It'll cool down again tonight. We have been promised a major dump tonight.

6 Cm? 2 Inches? GIVE me a break! OK, I know the weekend isn't over yet, there are more frontal systems hanging out over the Pacific, be patient and all that. I tell you one thing though,
those systems better give it up or I am going to be seriously peeved.

Snow's a'coming this weekend. Keep in mind that every day the mountain man are blasting tons of water over the runs which turns into a very powdery type snow by the time it hits the ground. The runs are fine because of that but in order to turn the bowls and the backcountry into powder heaven we need mom nature. Do your thing mom!

Jan 16 '02 08:00:AM Clear Skies, UnLtd Vis. Light Wind
Alpine -10c Mdmtn -8c Valley -3c NewSnw 0cm  Base 195cm

Yesterday turned out a lot better then it looked like from down here. The snow line was a bit above midstation, well below the green and red chairs and the conditions where good. Today looks even better because the freezing level has dropped into the village keep in mind that the low runs have been beaten up by the rain!

Jan 06 '02 10:00:AM Cloudy, Ltd. Vis., Windy
Alpine -5c Mdmtn -1c Valley 1c NewSnw 13cm  Base 200cm

Today is very much like yesterday. There's plenty snow but you gotta stay in the Alpine. The storms keep coming in from the South West (Hawaii) so the freezing level will stay high. Tuesday and Wednesday look like good days coming up.

High pressure ridge (cool air) still holding but warm wet air getting closer. Conditions not so good because foggy, and flat light. Snow's ok but the groomers need to get at it.
