Well, what do you know, that snow yesterday? It sort of stopped and we ended up with a grand total of 4cm. It's cloudy right now, we are expecting more later on today.
Still snowing! I think the guy who reads the snowgage is having a bad hair day. Officially we have 185cm at mid station but that's going to change, belief you me. Conditions? Snowing, windy variable vis. Snowing should slow down to flurries this aft.
22cm. More to come. Are we going to pass the 2 meter mark? Will Mary-Jane marry Joey the butcher boy from the wrong side of the tracks and... oh sorry, wrong report. Anyway a serious series of frontal systems are set to deliver more! Today we'll have flurries, moderate winds and variable vis.
Clouds overhead! Heavy with snow or is that just wishful thinking on my part? We've been promised a foot between now and tomorrow night. Stay tuned.
More blue skies this looks a lot like spring skiing. No new snow until Sunday afternoon at the earliest.
Nothing came of those clouds yesterday. They basically packed it in by the afternoon. It's a clear day today, blue skies, no wind. Time to go work on the old tan methinks.
Fairly heavy clouds with a promise of snow overhead but we've been told that it will start to clear in the afternoon. If we're to get any fresh snow it would have to be now. The next best chance will Sunday.
Very high thin clouds. Chance of flurries the man says. I don't think so. Not cold, no wind, unlimited vis. A good day.
More sunshine, some wind in the higher elevations. We're sitting under a high pressure ridge which will stick around until Saturday with a chance of some clouds sneaking in from the south on Wednesday.
Sunshine, no wind, plenty snow. Need I say more? Why don't I go check it out for myself? Just to make sure.
Pow! About a foot over the last two days. It's still snowing lightly right now with light winds and variable vis. It will clear this afternoon, tomorrow we'll have cloudy periods.
We're all holding our breath. 8cm is a nice layer, enough to turn those hard moguls into buttery mounds but now we want more. We've been promised more this aft and tonight, up to 25 cm if the man is to be believed!
This is not a stellar day! The vis is variable at best, it's fairly windy and -9c is getting close to -10c which is my personal "I'ts Cold" cut off point. Good news? A whole shipload of Pacific weather systems is coming this way. There's got to be snow in them thar systems.
Twice it looked like we were going to get our dump yesterday and twice it stopped after half an hour. The man says there is going to be snow between now and Sunday. We'll see. Right now it's cloudy with some wind.
Clouds are back, snow's in the air! We have two frontal systems coming at us. Right now conditions are good, unlimited vis, some wind. Yesterday was solid but with icy patches in the shady area's
Inversion! Good news because if you don't have a nice fresh dump to ski on groomed hardpack softened up by the sun is the next best thing. I'll go check it out, tell you all about it tomorrow.
Clear blue skies, no wind. I we had some fresh pow this would be one of those days. As it is this one rates as a day at the beach.
Well, as you can see things cleared up yesterday so we did not get any more snow. It's nippy today so make sure you layer up. We're in a clearing trend that will last until Wednesday. Any new snow until then will be manmade.
Does 2cm even count? It looks like there may be more in the sky but its been like this before and nothing came of it. Its snowing very very lightly right now. The mountains report unlimited vis and barely any wind.
High clouds today but it doesn't feel like there's any snow in them. We're in a clearing trend right now, except for a chance of flurries tonight it doesn't look like there'll be any snow until at least Wednesday. They are making snow like crazy in the mean time.
Not much snow I am afraid. We may get some on Friday or Saturday. Unlimited vis, no wind and good temperatures. A good day.
It's nice and clear right now, add that to the 12 cm fresh pow and you've got the makings of an excellent day. Yesterday was good today may be better. I might just go and check it out again. You don't mind do you?
I am not complaining, not to hard anyway 10cm is better than a kick in the butt. It's snowing very lightly right now we may get an other 10 during the day. Visibility is unlimited. I'll go check it out.
Ok. The man said 5-10cm. We got four, I guess he can claim to be right. Sort of. It's snowing lightly right now but it is supposed to clear up during the day. Tomorrow we'll get an other dump. Read all about it right here.
Same as yesterday but with an interesting inversion (warm on top cold down here) going on. We're expecting the next frontal system to hit late this afternoon and drop 5 to 10cm overnight. More on Monday.
Clear blue skies, still plenty pow, good temperature, no wind. I am writing this one up as Excellent!
There's finally some serious base building going on up there. The freezing level dropped down into the village last night giving us a few inches but right now it's above zero and wet down here. A good day to haul your butt up there!
Yesterday was one for the books. The mountains had to close for a while because of a thunderstorm!! We did get a good dump though so I am not complaining too loudly. One fly in the ointment, temperatures are about to rise again. Freezing level goes to midstation later today!.
Still not impressive but good news is a'coming. It's getting colder, it's raining in the village but it's snowing only a couple of hundred meters higher up. The weatherman actually predicted it and it's coming true. He also said the freezing level will get down to the valley floor later on today. I'm waiting.
This is not an impressive day. We're finally getting some precip but guess what. It's too warm down here. It's raining! Higher up it's snowing but still, this is not what I would expect in the middle of winter.
Happy New Year!
This is it, the last report of 2000. Clouds have moved in and it feels like there could be snow but I've been wrong too often the last few days to call it. The weatherman promises 2-6 cm today with an other 2cm tonight. I'll believe it when I see it. Have a good yearend celeb.
It actually cleared up yesterday, we ended up with a day at the beach (in a manner of speaking). Today looks clear as well, some grey, some blue, little wind. A good day on groomed hardpack.
We've got high cloud. It doesn't look like snow. Vis is good with light winds and it is relatively warm so no need to layer up today. We're still waiting for that really big dump, last season at this time we had 190cm with a 20cm dump on Jan 1. The weatherman says we might do it again this year.
Cool and crisp. Unlimited skies, plenty snow, an excellent day in my humble opinion. More snow tomorrow.
Ok 14cm yesterday, 14cm today that's almost a foot. The freezing level is just above the valley floor and there is no wind to speak of. Except for the variable visibility I would say this is turning out to be a good to excellent day.
Good news and bad news people. 14cm overnight is good news limited vis and temps around freezing are not. We did need heavy snow to cover some of the rough spots in the alpine. We are expecting more later today and tonight which is good I could wish for cooler temps though especially with an other storm brewing out over the Pacific.
Merry Christmas! It looks like Santa has thrown his weight around and got us some decent snow overnight. There is more to come but the temperature is worrisome. We are expecting lots of precip but it may be rain or wet snow here on the valley floor. Conditions are good today with variable vis and light winds.
Well there you have it. 3cm I guess it'll have to do as the dump of the day. The latest word? Serious snow tomorrow. Hmm? Where have I heard that one before?
Still waiting for that fresh dump. All the resorts around here got snow but not us. What's up with that? I am expecting big snow this afternoon, mom nature better deliver or I am going to throw a serious hissyfit. Conditions today are good with variable vis.
Bit of an inversion going on, cold in the village warm on top. Makes for some strange skiing. You're doing your thing in the alpine, you come down at the end of the day and as you do you start to zip up and tuck in because it's getting colder! Weird! We're still waiting for mom nature to deliver. Skiing is good but a dump would make it great.
Heavy cloud all over the place nothing much falling out of them though. We're expecting a decent dump overnight.
No new snow to report but definitely some on the way. The sky looks heavy. Visibility is good and holding with light winds. Christmas pow is coming I can smell it!
I figured it was time to have a look for myself. It was like a day at the beach up there. Some area's need more snow. I skied Whistler. The pipe and terrain park need work, all chairs are open the bowls are starting to fill up nicely. All 'round an excellent day.
We're back! And what an excellent place to come back to. 75 cm over the last week and there is more in the air! Visibility is variable the snow is soft. The village looks like a picture, Santa's here and so am I.
27cm overnight! 112cm at midstation. The best snow in North America right
now. Get out here!
It's December. Time to get serious. 90 cm at midstation. We've had better, we've had worse. It's wet in the valley right now visibility is unlimited. There are 8 lifts open on Blackcomb with a chance that 7th heaven will open up this weekend.
The vis. is variable. It's snowing on and off. We're almost at a meter on midmountain and it's still November. All in all not a bad way to start a season.
Yesterday was excellent with mostly blue skies. Today it's snowing top to bottom the really fine powdery stuff. It's going to snow into the weekend. Looking good for Christmas. Done your shopping yet??
A few blue spots up there. Excellent day! Tomorrow afternoon it's back to base building. Some great storms are building over the Pacific.
More is better! This is going to be the week were we build the base. The vis., is not excellent up top but you can't beat fresh pow. Down here on the floor the temperature does its up and down thing. One moment it snows the next it rains.
Let it Snow! The second storm front has arrived. It's snowing on the valley floor as I write this. If this keeps up we'll be skiing into the village in a week. There is more in the forecast. It looks like a break on Sunday then next week, More Snow!
Mom nature is finally giving it up! I just shoveled 4 centimeters off of the driveway. It's still snowing. We've got two storm systems lining up over the Pacific. I think we'll be talking feet of snow before they're done.
No reports because. Nothing to report. Blue skies 'sall I can see. The end is neigh though. Tomorrow evening this high pressure area is going to blow. Snow's a'coming. People who've been up report conditions OK for skiing. Boarders are ripping up the pipe.
Mom Nature can go take a hike. We'll make our own snow around here thank you very much. Wizard, Solar, Catskinner, Jersey Cream chairs, and the Magic Carpet will be open on Friday. The halfpipe is in excellent shape because summer grooming was done to shape the bottom and the snow guns have been blasting for weeks now. Get out here and let'r rip!
Yes, we had a trace overnight. Top to bottom. Nothing to write letters home about. The man says we'll have clear skies until Friday. Yep that Friday, the 17th, when Blackcomb opens! Anyway there is plenty manmade and natural to go around in the alpine.
Mother nature is not cooperating! We've got a meter in the alpine and 25 cm at midstation but we haven't had an fresh dump for a about a week now. They are making snow and plenty of runs will be open but it will be mostly manmade snow unless something gives. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a load tonight or tomorrow.
AWRIGHT! More Snow in the alpine. It looks like it's down to midstation. No official word yet but I am sure there must be close to a meter up there. Official opening Nov. 17 for Blackcomb, Nov. 22 for Whistler.
The white stuff! On the valley floor! Of course it's not going to stay
down here but it will in the alpine. Looks like an other Early Opening
in the making. More as things develop.
Can't see it right now but we had a dusting on top of the Wedge a couple of days ago. Old dude winter is definitely sniffing around. Meanwhile I am not ready to park the old mountain bike just yet, we've got an Indian summer coming 'sfar's I'm concerned.
Shhh.... Don't tell anyone but there is a nip in the morning air around here. It takes the sun just a tad longer to haul its butt over the mountain tops each morning. Not that you would notice it during the day mind you. It's summer in the city (OK village)down here. Still, for those of us awaiting the big white it's a sign.
